The reply should be that the report of

the Committee appointed by the Secretary of State on Leave and Bassage Conditions for the Colonial

Service has recently been presented to Parliament;

that it is the Secretary of State's intention to

consult Colonial Governments regarding the

recommendations made by the Committee;

that one

of the questions which arises in connection with

the report is that of the class of passage

accommodation assigned to Government Officers

when proceeding or returning from leave, and

that the representations of the Institute in

relation to the passages of Assistant Analysts

in Hong Kong will not be overlooked when this

question is under consideration in consultation

with the Hong Kong Government.
